“Stocks Fischrestaurant” has been pampering patrons for 15 years now. To celebrate this, owner and first class chef Heiko Stock decided to renovate the erstwhile closed upper level of his classically thatch roofed restaurant. Now the “Kaminstube” (fireside lounge) is northern Germany’s only Alpine chalet open all year round. “I couldn’t get the idea of an Alpine chalet in Hamburg out of my head. Sometimes I get obsessive and can’t stop thinking about something. Could be a car, a woman, or a restaurant with the interior design of a Tirolean mountain cabin,” Stock explains, giving a mischievous wink. The result is a comfortable venue where up to 150 people can dine in a real Alpine atmosphere, with authentic details such as silver chamois antlers and little cowbells mounted on the walls. The menu offers, among other things, fried breaded chicken served on potato and lamb tongue’s lettuce salad, prime boiled beef with roasted potatoes and apple horseradish sauce, or light Wiener Schnitzel with cucumber salad. There is no compromise when it comes to the quality of the Kaminstube’s offerings.
The “Huttenparties” (chalet parties) are highly recommended. The “Zwei Sterntaler” and their accordions add a charming musical touch to the evening, with fun and dancing going on till late in the night. The next party date is December 20. So throw on your dirndl dress and lederhosen and off you go!
